Keeping the Doctor Away

As my family has heard me say repeatedly for over a week, now - I Love Fall!

Country Living

And I love apple season.

Available in my Etsy store, here

One of my husband's favorite desserts is Apple Crisp.  I use a simple recipe from Atlanta Junior League's Cooknotes cookbook.

Apple Crisp
1/2 cup softened butter
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 cup all-purpose flour
4 large apples, peeled, cored & sliced
1/4 - 1/2 cup water
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon salt
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine butter, brown sugar, and flour; mix with a fork to form topping and set aside. Place sliced apples in a greased one-and-one-half-quart baking dish, and add water. Combine granulated sugar, cinnamon, and salt; sprinkle over apples. Spread topping evenly over all. Bake 30 to 40 minutes at 350.

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream!  Yum!

Here is a printable version of the recipe I made for you.

I hope you are enjoying your autumn!

What a charming blog you have! Your apple crisp recipe drew me here, but your paintings and antiques are so fun to look at. Your blog feels cozy.

I love being able to break out my sweaters and hoodies! I will be sick of the rain eventually but for now I'm enjoying a change of weather!

What kind of apples do you prefer to use for this recipe? Thanks for linking up to Making Your Home Sing Monday!
