Green to Gray - Before and After

It took a pending graduation party with 65+ invitations in the mail to make me pull out the sewing machine, but I finally sewed the drapes for my living room!

Well, I half sewed them - half stitch-witched them.

Fingers crossed that they don't just fall in strips on the floor!

 

I have 11' ceilings and recently painted the room Wickham Gray (here).   The height of the ceiling requires long panels.  I used Annie Selke Scramble in Slate -on sale.   (Let me tell you how desperately I wanted this particular fabric - I could not find a swatch of the fabric in "slate," ANYWHERE in the Atlanta metro area, so I bravely ordered 4 yards without ever seeing the actual gray - not smart, but I am crazy like that).  Fortunately, the gray works perfectly with the paint. 

The white portion of the panel was contrived out of my frugalness - I used an IKEA Ritva panel (118") and sewed/stichwitched the gray Scramble material along the edges.  The total cost for four 112" panels with the Annie Selke fabric was $150.00.  Not bad.  I think they are neutral enough to remain in this room for several years before they need to be replaced.  I like the Ritva curtain, btw - it looks like linen. 

I also picked up an IKEA rug for the room.  I am absolutey positively in love with the rug.

I bought a second one for the bedroom across the hall - to tie the spaces together.

The sofa was my grandparents and the gold fabric on the sofa was manufactured in the textile mill my grandfather operated.  The coffee table is actually a piano bench.  I showed you how I planted the jade last year here.  Somehow it is still alive. 

I am thrilled with the way my living room has evolved.
