Back to School

School started on Wednesday, August 4th and I took the standard First-Day-of-School photo.

But there was a problem:  "the Senior" had to be at school at 6:30 am to play on the Slip-n-Slide for an hour before school started, so I had to wait and take the photo AFTER school.  Yes, a Slip-n-Slide .. a large tarp greased with water and baby oil for the Seniors to play on before the first day of school began.  We take our education seriously here in Georgia.

I am already sad - I cannot believe she is a Senior. I know this year will fly by. (To make matters worse, the middle daughter started High School, today, and my son had his first day of Middle School.  Could they stop growing, already??!!)

Here is last year's photo.....

And here is a photo I found from 2004.....

Someone should have weeded the walkway.

I took the First-Day-of-School photo outside for many years - until they protested.  Now it is an indoor photoshoot.

Where does the time go?

You are making me cry Trish. I'm telling you, back to school is a tough time for me. Slip n slide? That is great that the seniors do that. I hope they had a great start.

It does go by so very fast. My youngest is leaving for college in a few short weeks. She will be 6 hrs away. I am trying to to think about it till it happens.

I love that you have pics for each year. I was not that intentional, and now I so wish I had been.

Blessings!
Good Morning Trish Sweetie...
What a beautiful share this morning. I love your kids photos. Isn't it something how fast they grow? It seems like once they hit Junior High they are gone before you know it.

Now I have got to tell you, I really got ripped off in Oklahoma where I was a senior. We never got to slip and slide. Yes I think you all down there in Georgia take education very seriously, but sweetie how fun for the seniors. What a great way to start off their year.

My kids are all grown now, and I have 8 grandchildren. I have one starting High School this year, 2 starting Junior High this year, 1 going into 5th grade, 1 going into 4th grade, and 1 starting Kindergarten. The 2 youngest are 3 and 2 months. Will be awhile before the get started. My how time flies when you are having fun.

Enjoy those babies, they do grow fast. Have a beautiful day today sweet friend. Thanks for sharing.

Country hugs sweetie...Sherry

Trish, it is a difficult time letting them fly the nest. Mine is in her second year of college but thanks be to God we are very close and she calls all the time.

I love those progressive photos..fun to compare year to year. My guys are grown and gone and I miss them more than words can say. We all had so much fun together as they grey up...no problems to speak of. It was especially hard to send them out into the world as adults, but out they went. Enjoy the kids while you have them ;-)

PS...I received a late night text 2 days ago from my oldest thanking me for the wonderful childhood we gave him. He just now has come to realize (after hearing horror stories from friends) what a great home life we had. It made me smile !

I hope you don't mind a dad of 3 chiming in. I think we take it a bit harder than moms, especially for our daughters. I hope yours are leaning toward UGA or GT.
I enjoy your blog! My parents did the same thing - took a picture of my sister and I in front of the same tree in our front yard at the start of every school year. I believe it started when I was 2 or 3 (and my sister was 5 or 6) and ended with my senior year in high school. Many of those pictures are framed at my parent's house now. And my husband and I started the tradition in our family - first, at the beginning of each year that I was in law school, and now with our own children. Such a great tradition! I'm glad to see other families do this too!
