High Horse Gallery
This past week, I traveled through southern Alabama for my "real" job. As I swung off the highway in search of history and a bottled water, I stumbled across an art gallery in Greenville, Alabama.
High Horse Gallery is not something you would expect in this small, impoverished Southern town. (If you are wondering, it's okay for me to refer to a place as a "small, impoverished Southern town" because I grew up in one, per my own rules. )

This cute town and gallery are only a couple of miles from I-65. A perfect stop between Mobile and Montgomery.
The owner, Mary McKinley is a true southern belle - very hospitable.
I love, love, love these dogs in charcoal.....
I believe Mary said an art teacher in Foley, Alabama painted those.
The collection is mostly from Southeastern artists. However, a few international ones are thrown in for interest....
I like this piece by Pam Padgett....
High Horse Gallery also carries original paintings by Charlie Lucas, "The Tin Man."
I wish I'd thought to take a photo of the cypress knees a local woman in her 70's turns into Santas!
