She Can Laugh at the Days to Come

Or perhaps I should name this post: "What I Have Learned from My Daughter."

I have been carefully monitoring my ETSY stats.  When I occasionally buy the new Search Ads - where they use my selected key words to display my items on the first page - I do not get many 'hits.'  

I get more page views when 

(1) I just 'relist' items.  

 or, (2) advertise on other blogs.  

or, (3) post more often on my blog.  

Or, (4) Luck of all luck, a really popular tweeter or blogger or pinner mentions me.  (This painting received 154 hits one day last week due to this blogger's midnight facebook post/tweet.  So cool.)

It is much easier to sell art in person than online.  You have to SEE the art in person to visualize the piece in your home.


With this realization, 

I AM ABOUT TO GET REALLY BRAVE AND TAKE MY ART TO A FEW MORE LOCAL STORES.  There.  I said it.  Please hold me to it.

My eldest daughter is FEARLESS.  I think of Proverbs 31:26 

She is clothed with strength and dignity;   she can laugh at the days to come.

Emily is not afraid of failure.  She realizes failure is a part of life, but does not let that distract her.  I honestly think her fearlessness comes from the many disappointments she experienced in High School and Middle School.  She was an excellent student and good athlete, but did not necessarily get 'picked' by the teachers for certain leadership spots.  She tried out for various sports teams and did not make them.  While I brewed, she moved on; and excelled in another sport, thanks to the free time.  All of the "No's" were character-building.  Now that she is in college, she will apply for any leadership position and any job that is mentioned to her.  She even made the Club Tennis Team at her University!  All the while, she is very much aware that she may hear "NO," but she is not afraid of that answer.  

She can handle "No."  

It does not slow her down.   

I am taking my lead from her.  She is 19 and teaching her 43 year old Mom.
