Give Thanks Banner Tutorial

Here is a banner I made .....

I copied.

I actually saw this on another blog - but cannot remember where!

(If you know where it was - please email me or comment - I want to give credit!)

I saw this cute banner at La Famille!

Here is a quick tutorial.

Items needed:
burlap
jute twine
scrap material in fall colors
Brown thread for sewing machine
No-Sew Adhesive paper
stitch witch (optional)

Double the burlap and cut 8" from the fold (through both pieces -for a total piece 16" long). Cut each panel approximately 5-1/2" wide.

Iron the no-sew adhesive

onto the back side of the scrap fabrics...

Draw out your letters about 4-1/2" in height and 3" in width on the adhesive paper.
(Remember to draw the G, S, and N in reverse!)

Iron a letter onto each flag.

Then sew with a zigzag stitch down each side of the flag
and sew around the edge of each letter...

(You will be sewing through two layers of burlap)

Take the jute twine

and lay across the tops of the burlap penants.....

Fold the edge over the twine and then iron over the edge (I used stitch witch here to keep it secure for my sewing)

I then ran a straight stitch across all of the flags...

Doesn't have to be perfect - it's burlap!

I made a few extras....

And I am hoping to sell them in my booth at a local antique market where I have a few items.

If you want one - email me - $40 $35 includes shipping within the US.

Have a great day!

I looove this banner! I've never thought of using the ribbon, I always have jagged cuts out of yards of burlap! It looks great!

Hey girlie...looks awesome. I just bought one from a gal in South Dakota. Not sure if it's the same place you saw it or not. Her name is Alicia Hutchinson and her blog name is la famile. I think.

Thanks for sharing how
to do this!! I want to
make one for over my
sewing area which needs
some serious l.o.v.e. !!
Maybe Create or Inspire
or something like that.
Love the little acorn
on yours, Trish! I'm sure
these will get snapped
up, fast : ) Happy Monday!
