What Kind of Chair is This?

I mentioned in my last post that we cleaned out my Mom's attic and house and held a yard sale. (Thank you for all the nice comments regarding my Mother, by the way -the sentiments were very much appreciated).

While digging, we found these chairs in her attic.....

The left one is a rocker. Oh, and just ignore the yard sale paraphernalia. "No" the "Advanced Aerobic" vinyl album did not sell. What kind of crazies came to this sale and didn't want an aerobics album to listen to? Geeez, and only one buck..

Back to the chairs...

They have wooden wing backs. I cannot tell when they were constructed or what type of chair they are. I just keep picturing them in a fishing camp or mountain lodge, somewhere. I googled and googled and discovered a chair called a Monterrey Winged Back Chair...

Close to the same style.

The chairs also resemble a paddle arm chair...

And are similar in style to this chair...

My mom once owned some old, brick apartment buildings built in the 1920's and I am fairly certain these chairs were in the storage shed of that apartment complex. That does not mean the chairs are that old, however, it does mean she must have seen some value in them as they were never used in our home, yet she saved them, anyway.

I think they are cute. I just need a nice cabin. Or a place in the mountains...

or the Adirondacks. They have a rustic look. That particular chair is a rocker.

Here is the back design...

The wood used on the chair reminds me of a 1970's state park cabin. The style makes me think of something more grand. Like maybe in the Old Faithful Inn in Yellowstone....

Oh, my, do I need a vacation...

The chairs did not sell. (If the shoppers we encountered on Saturday weren't willing to see the value of a vinyl aerobics album, do your really think they noticed these incredible chairs?)

Please let me know what kind of chairs these are. Or perhaps the decade in which they were constructed.  Many thanks!

Comments

I love the style of these chairs and think they'd look great on a sun porch! The new covers should of course be big fun flowers! Something complimentary to your paintings. :)
I call "dibs" on the rocker! Love a good solid rocker!
If I were going to guess, I'd say these hail from the 40s -- very nice!
Are you going to keep them?
maybe it's ethan allen?
here is a link to a platform rocker that is similar...

I know they are not exactly the same, but they remind of the Mission style chairs popular during the 20s-30s. My grandparents had some similar, but their chairs had slatted sides. Still, the overall design does remind me of Mission style.
I think they are nice! :)

I don't know what it's called- but I was gifted the glider version of it. I LOVE it. I need to get new cushions and replace one of the straps for the seat.

It is Danish Modern style! Popular in the 1950's. They are an early Mid Century Modern piece! Very collectible!!
