Goals for My Home

I am giving you the mini-list.

I have a much longer list, but it will overwhelm you.

This year, I HOPE to....

1. Paint our main hall.

I need to get rid of 10 years of little kid fingertips going up the wall of the stairs. (When you are under 7 you HAVE to touch the rail and the wall - it is a requirement for being under 7).

Here are some of my color samples that have been on the wall for about six months  - on several walls of my hall.  Even during the Christmas parties where people other than family were here.

I would tell you my new color but I cannot locate the paint can - I think it is somewhere in the craft room.   My new color is much more neutral than I have ever chosen, but I am trying to break out of the 1990's.

2. Paint some exterior trim on our house that I can reach and will not show you because it is really embarassing and is long over-due.

3. Renovate my craft/laundry/art room. So that it looks like this.....

 Country Living

or this....

Better Homes and Gardens
or any of these.
My mother will call if I show you this room in its current state, and will say something like "Have you no shame?" so you will have to wait for the "before and after" to see my craft room that has a 1970's drop ceiling.

4. Make window treatments/panels for my recently painted gray living room....

5. Dream a little more about renovating my kitchen so that it looks more like this......

I've been wondering if I could renovate my kitchen in stages, since I have not saved up the money to replace the cabinets.  Like build one set of IKEA cabinets at a time and go without counters for a while.  This article on Ikea cabiinets has me hopeful.

Enjoy your day!

I so understand the hallway painting. Lots of little fingers have graced our paint also!

If this is the MINI list, I consider you quite ambitious! Clearly you're going about it the "right" way - gathering photographs of the features you'd like to incorporate into your sweet home...

The progress and finished results will be fun to see!

Yes, and I think the fingertip rule still applies at age 12. Your projects are going to be great Trish!

Love all those kitchens...I have vowed to paint my kitchen cabinets this year. I was inspired by the beautiful kitchen in the movie 'Something's Gotta Give' I'll let you know how it goes.

You and I have a few goals in common for the year. My son (6 y/o) is very into cars so it's my hallway baseboards (aka the motorspeedway) that need more touching up even though I just repainted them last month. I tried to tell DH that we should wait but he wouldn't hear of it. Now he realizes that it's constant upkeep and since it's me that has to do the repainting, he'd better keep quiet whenever he sees new dings in them.
