Comfort in a Photo

I am one who usually likes bold color, but ran across this room and had to return for a second look.

I was trying to dissect this room and figure out what makes it attractive. I think there are three reasons this comfortable room is beautiful (to me, at least)

1. The wooden paneled walls add architectural interest (as does the window nook)
2. The old mirror is unexpected - love the patina (an antique or two can be a "comfort")
3. The beautiful painting is a wonderful blast of color (and landscapes are comforting, in my mind)
-I also like the lines of the curtains and the thin black rod keeps the upper portion of the window from disappearing into the ceiling.
Here is one more photo from the same house in Traditional Home.....

I just love anything green. A wall of books, a soft green chair, a place for your feet, the creamy panels - plus, fresh sunlight.
Ahhh...

Green is my favorite color. And I love the black rope thingy too.
