DIY "in Progress"

I have self-diagnosed myself with ICAP Disorder
(Inability to Complete a Project).

Over the past 10 years I have developed symptoms which make it virtually impossible for me to finish a project in a timely manner. And if you lack the ability to FOCUS it can REALLY be a challenge to finish a project.

Or two.

Does anyone else do this?............

(1) I am hanging blinds on the windows in the den -but need a different drill bit.

(2) So, I walk into the laundry room to my tool box (yes, we keep the tool box in the laundry room).

(3) While approaching the laundry room I remember that the laundry needs to be rotated. So I take the laundry out of the dryer - walk it into the den to lay it in the chair where it will wait for teenage daughters to fold it while watching tv - (yes, I realize that the clothes will be wrinkled - but they were already wrinkled sitting in the cold dryer)

(4) I then walk back to the laundry room to move the wet clothes to the dryer,

(5) but almost trip over the tool box -which reminds me to get the much needed drill bit and actually finish one set of blinds.

(6) At least an HOUR later, I remember the wet clothes and move them to the dryer.

(7) I THEN remember that I did not finish putting on my makeup earlier and head to the bedroom....

I am ONLY 40! Where is my mind?

Well - I did not complete a single project for Kimba's DIY Day - But I have several projects IN PROGRESS!!!!

Here is a sneak peak..........

My various "IN PROGRESS" projects include the following:

my den, blinds, new curtains, turkey plates, fabric, burlap, shoeboxes, Operation Christmas Child, paintings, and more paintings.

Wish me luck.

Oh, very funny! I find myself doing this as well, but I TRY to regain focus somewhere along the way!

You are doing pretty good for a 40 year old parent. We need assistants and a secretary.
Ooh, that fabric in pic three is gorgeous! Where did you find it?
I found it at a local decorator/interior fabric store here in Georgia - but just found it on the internet for you. I do not know if all Hancocks carry it. (It was $12.95 a yard). The name is Ritzy Chocolate by P Kaufman - here is a link-

Cute post!
I'm not even 30 yet, and I'm the same. Don't think it has to do with age!

Hi! I am new to your blog! Stumbled across it the other day.

I lack focus most of the time. It drives my husband nuts...I think it's because we have so much to do as a wife & mother.

Good luck with your projects! Looking great so far!

I do the same thing all the time. Once I was talking to my daughters dr. about her adhd and telling her how I did these things and she told me me I had ADD, which I could have told her myself. lol oh well eventually things usually get done. I have one window in my living room with my new curtains and the other with the old and started doing this a few days ago... LOL Maybe I'll go finish it now.

Ooh, thank you! We have a Hancocks down the street, I will check it out. I don't know where I will use it but I will think of something. Its too pretty not to do something with it!
Yes I do it too. Now you need to focus and get the projects done. I am going to stalk you, I mean check back daily until you show off your completed projects!!

I don't think that I have been around you, but I seem to have contracted that same disease. Oh wait, it's a disorder, and they aren't contagious. Anyway, I have it too!
I am so glad you stopped by.

I love love love those turkey plates. This is the year I think I will get some - seeing as I've hosted Thanksgiving for the last 5 years!

Your post made me laugh because thats EXACTLY what I do every day....except now i'm pregnant and I have a 15 month old that i'm chasing at the same time. Pregnancy brain makes this ICAP condition way worse! I'm a new follower of your blog and am hooked. You have great style and your art is so fun and inspirational. I am going to be finding out what the sex of baby number 2 is in a few weeks and would love to buy a piece of your art for my kids shared nursery. :)
