Procrastinator's Party
Okay - maybe an announcement will make me do something with my dining room.
I am joining the Procrastinators Party at The Inspired Room.
(Surely this announcement will not "jinx" my intentions, right?!-- Sort of like - I will lose 20 pounds before we go to the beach.... and then I see more delicious desserts in one week than in a lifetime.)

This is my dining room. Please do not tell anyone how bad it looks - I typically keep the door shut.
Any tips for painting over deep red? And those are 11.5 -foot ceilings, by the way.
Why would anyone paint a north room -with only one window- dark RED?!! Okay, okay - I just thought it would look good, 10 years ago. But now I am headed toward pale yellow (my old faithful "go-to" color).
Wish me luck. And don't tease me too much when I fail to finish this by the 20th.
Okay - my mom just emailed me - "I saw your dining room on the "world wide web". Do you have no shame?"

Okay, tip for painting over red... go to the paint store and tell them you need a primer to go over red walls. Easy - they'll give you exactly what you need. My father was a painter for 40+ years... don't be temped to cover it with 2 coats of regular paint - there is not enough pigment in paint to cover and/or neutralize the red. Trust me... primer is your friend here!
On a side note, I like the red, but would maybe reduce it visually by painting a nice coordinating color above the chair rail, or maybe just paint pure white under the chair rail. That will break up the red so you don't feel so overwhelmed by it. Just a couple of thoughts for you.

I agree with the others - lots and lots of primer.
And you can't fail now, you have people holding you accountable. Heehee ;)
