Battle of the Ivy

Ivy can be beautiful.

But the small rock wall along the side of my yard was almost completely covered with ivy.

So I decided to cut it back, and let the beautiful old stones be visible.

Ahhh ... they can breathe, now!

Oh, how I wish I had a decent "before" picture of this wall!

Will I ever get this blogging thing 'down'?

And, ivy lovers, don't worry - the ivy WILL be back -

It is still covering the wall down near the big cedar.

THIS was my actual fear !!.....................

Yes, I know the bottom four photos are not english ivy.

For you non-southern readers - that is KUDZU.

Kudzu is very easy to grow - you just throw it at the ground and run.

we've got a big tree off our deck providing shade that has ivy growing all the way to the top. I think it's pretty, and by now to get it off may kill the tree.
I love your stone wall, good call to cut it back.

Good morning :)

That KUDZU is scary stuff! LOL I love the way Ivy looks, but it's so invasive that my husband freaks out if it gets anywhere near the house. I'm growing in the back though ;)

Your Hydrangeas are gorgeous!

Hi Thanks for stopping by. Someone told me the porch floor is called cracked. I know what you mean about Ivy. I thought it was great when we first moved here to NC but I've had to work hard to keep it under control.

We have to fight English ivy all summer long. We live next door to a couple of acres of Kudzu smack in the city. It's not decorative but I prefer the Kudzu.
