A Little Fresh Paint.....

......goes a long way!

Our tired 'ole 150 year old home needed some fresh paint.

We picked the prettiest and coolest summer weekend in recent history to start the scraping and painting.
(It will just take a couple of days - - plus it will stay nice and cool all summer in Georgia, right? HA!)

NO! It was not this bad - this photo (above) is AFTER the scraping!

Once the shutters were down from the second story, I could not BELIEVE how bad they looked. Yikes!

My faithful painter. (Mr. TOPR)

One month later (in the 95 degree heat and high humidity), the shutters are back on and the front of the house is happy, once again.

We call our little bit of painting ....... "putting lipstick on the pig."

Love your home! It's beautiful in it's new dress! I love that lipstick on the pig...too funny! So you are in good ole GA, too, huh? Yep, been pretty hot here lately!
Thanks for joining in on Met Monday!

When I drive by a house like your I always slow down. We cruised though Covington Georgia yesterday and saw a handful. I think 150 old houses should be well kept but look their age.

It really is amazing what paint can do to spruce up a house or just about anything. So sorry about the heat, but it's done now and it looks fabulous!

Well that is a might fine looking pig you got there. And you picked such a great type of lipstick. I love your makeup artist- he was so nice to get up on that ladder and in that heat..what a guy.

your house is stunning!
that's one mighty gorgeous PIG you have there! LOVE your house -- and boy, those shutters look familiar. They are in almost as bad shape as the ones on our house -- and it's going to be awhile before we're fixing them. Money and time -- not enough of either! :-P
Ah, old houses. Gotta love them! Glad I do.
