Kansas City Shopping Trip -Part 1

My sister turned 40 this week, so my mom and my son and I went to Missouri for her birthday.

I enjoy going to Kansas City to visit my sister. There are some GREAT stores in Kansas City- but we have six kids between the two of us, so we never quite get to as many stores as we would like.

But I ALWAYS make time to visit Nell Hill's.

On Day 1 - We stopped at the Briarcliff Village Nell Hill's (located in north Kansas City).

All photos courtesy of my ten-year-old helper. (He'll do anything to hurry me along!)

This yellow damask settee is gorgeous..........

( I do not know that lady - I'll bet she was surprised when my son took her picture.)

Birds are still popular.........

(That is half of my mom -over to the right).

I adore this mirror..........

Hey, calling my seamstress buddies, I'll bet you could make this cute pillow..........

Isn't this a great headboard?.....

Here are a couple of things I picked up. Alas - no furniture. I was trying to limit my purchases -both financially and by size - (so my objects could fit into my carry-on for my flight home).

We also ran into one of my favorite antique stores -River Market Antiques,

(this is the antique store where I got those cute Sunday School posters , a few years ago.)

(love that Lewis and Clark mural on their building).

I really wanted this Mount Vernon doll house.......

(too big for my suitcase).

And here is the birthday girl and family.........

Looks like a fun day, doesn't it?

Love KC. My brother's wife is from St Joe which is north of KC. There are lots of cool shops around there...even went to a litle town that is inbetween the two. The whole main street were little antique/gift shops! It's a shame they don't live there anymore...it's a long way from Georgia! Happy Birthday to your sister and many more!

Definitely a fun day. Happy birthday to your sis! I loved that mirror too:)
Ok, I am soooo jealous. I LOVE that store and have been longing to return..all the way from Oklahoma City. Really I thinks it's worth the drive alone! Forget going to the Plazza.

Thanks for sharing!

They probably have to mop the drool up in that store on the hour. What a feast for the eyes! I love how rich and interesting everything is. It looks warm, sophisticated...just lovely. Some of those pieces are amazing. Thanks for taking us with you!
